What is the main objective of the project?

The project scales regenerative agriculture, supports families in closing living income gaps, empowers women and young people, and develops a collaborative, replicable model that companies can apply across their supply chains to drive lasting sustainability.

How will the project contribute to sustainable coffee production?

The project promotes regenerative agriculture through agroforestry, biochar, composting, cover crops and improved soil and water management. These measures enhance productivity, restore ecosystems, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen climate resilience. Improved traceability and transparency further support compliance and long-term access to demanding international markets.

How does this project foster collaboration across the coffee sector?

It brings together exporters, roasters, a retailer and Swisscontact in a structured, pre-competitive collaboration model. Companies exchange practices and lessons learned, while joint work plans and coordination with local authorities and institutions align investments. This strengthens value chain integration and reinforces sustainable sourcing links with the Swiss market.

How do you ensure a lasting impact beyond the project's duration?

The project builds local capacities, transfers methodologies to cooperatives and institutions, and embeds multi-stakeholder coordination at the regional level. A robust monitoring, learning and knowledge-sharing system ensures continuous improvement. Co-financing, institutional partnerships and alignment with existing programmes support continuity beyond the funded period.
